A few months ago I was at Education Week at BYU. I was in a class about general conference. We were being reminded about the last two conferences and the recurring themes. One was that we were being overly encouraged to share the gospel through the many media outlets that we have.
In April conference of 2011, President Uchtdorf said "With so many social media resources and a multitude of more or less useful gadgets at our disposal, sharing the good news of the gospel is easier and the effects more far-reaching than ever before. My dear young friends, perhaps the Lord’s encouragement to “open [your] mouths” might today include “use your hands” to blog and text message the gospel to all the world! But please remember, all at the right time and at the right place.
During the class, one lady raised her hand and said she had been sending out a daily text message to her kids and family and friends that had a spiritual thought. She said they loved it and would frequently forward it to all of their friends too. It got me thinking a little and I decided to try it out. So since August, I've been sending out a text with a scripture or quote. I feel like it's been a success! Most seem to like them, and notice when they don't come. One of the people I sent them to said I should make a blog out of daily texts, so here it is!
President Uchtdorf continued.. "Brothers and sisters, with the blessings of modern technology, we can express gratitude and joy about God’s great plan for His children in a way that can be heard not only around our workplace but around the world. Sometimes a single phrase of testimony can set events in motion that affect someone’s life for eternity."
The purpose of my texts, and now this blog is to share my testimony with the world, in hopes that it will help some one out there! I have to admit, it's boosting my own testimony as well! I've always felt my testimony grow when I share it with others, so I'm grateful for the opportunity to share it this way!
I hope you enjoy reading my thoughts and I hope that maybe one day, I'll write a message that was meant for you!
